The Helen Diller Family Awards of Excellence in Jewish Education were established in January 2001 to recognize exceptional educators at institutions offering pre-collegiate programs in Jewish education. The Jewish Community Endowment Fund presents the winners with a $10,000 award and $2,500 for their nominating institution.

This year's award winners are:

Congregational/Community School: Elena Zusmanovich, Congregation Beth Am
Day School: Evan Wolkenstein, Jewish Community High School of the Bay
Early Childhood Education: Raizel Weinbaum, Chai Preschool
Informal Education: Eric Schoen, Temple Sinai Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education

The Harold Grinspoon Foundation and the Steinhardt Foundation for Jewish Life partner with local agencies and federations throughout North American to recognize, honor and support outstanding classroom Jewish educators. The Bureau of Jewish Education and the SF-based Jewish Community Federation are the selected local partners.

This year's award winner is:

Lauri Flaxman, pre-kindergarten teacher at Congregation Beth Jacob Preschool in Redwood City.
