DILLER TEEN FELLOWS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Description:
The Bureau of Jewish Education (BJE) seeks an experienced Jewish teen educator to provide leadership and coordination for the San Francisco Diller Teen Fellows Program (the local branch of an international program), for the next cohort of Diller Teen Fellows.
Primary responsibilities for this position will be to inspire and empower 20 Jewish teens in partnership with their Israeli and North American peers to strengthen their Jewish identity and to be active and effective in addressing issues in their local and global communities.
The Program Coordinator will:
- manage the marketing, recruitment, interviewing and selection process of 20 participants
- provide mentorship and guidance to the program participants and Jr. Counselors
- develop and lead regularly scheduled workshops and retreats throughout the year
- design, co-lead and supervise, in partnership with their Israeli counterpart, seminars in San Francisco and in Israel
Position responsibilities also include :
- ongoing curriculum development
- budget management
- active participation in Diller Teen Advisory Council meetings
- community relations, including publicity, collaboration, and working with alumni, teens and their families
- responsibility for all logistics related to workshops and retreats, Jewish service learning projects, Israel education and travel planning
- participation in and provision of support for the work of BJE program staff team, attendance at BJE program staff meetings
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and experience guiding and facilitating Jewish teens in informal educational settings, including retreats and travel
- Ability to make personal connections with and mentor teens to develop their leadership and organizational skills
- Experience in developing and providing programming in Israel Education, Jewish identity-building and youth leadership development
- Deep understanding of Israeli culture; extensive experience living in or multiple visits to or long-term stay in Israel; understanding of Israeli geography, history and politics
- Basic familiarity with Hebrew language
- Knowledge of Bay Area Jewish community and ability to communicate and collaborate with professionals
- Strong organization, communication and facilitation skills to lead meetings, collaborate with agency partners, and interact with a diverse body of teens, parents, community leaders and staff
- Ability to collaborate in an international partnership and to work with and contribute to an international peer network of Diller Teen Fellow Coordinators
- Availability to work nights and weekends monthly, including travel to Israel for 3 weeks over the summer and travel 1 week in the fall for International Diller Professional Development Conference
- BA in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Community Studies, or related degree

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- All facets of accounts payable including:
- processing of all invoices, expense reports, credit card statements
- preparation, distribution/mailing, copying and filing of checks
- maintenance of related files
- production of related reports (monthly AP Aging, check registers, etc.)
- maintenance of 1099 vendor information; production of year-end 1099's
- Assisting the Finance Director with regular accounting tasks, which may include the maintenance of monthly Excel spreadsheets

COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
Description:
- Manage all marketing, advertising, and public relations efforts.
- Design, implement, and facilitate annual marketing plan
- Serve as PR representative to raise the BJE's profile in the community
- Work side-by-side with Development Director to write fundraising letters, organize donor cultivation events, and create marketing materials for fundraising.
- Write copy for marketing collateral. Craft brochures, programs, media kits.
- Create and launch advertising campaigns, oversee design & placement in Jewish and secular media.
- Oversee design, production, and printing of all BJE projects.
- Write press releases and speeches, pitch stories, work closely with lay leaders and agency executives to create strategic alliances.
- Manage the new BJE web site
- Create and write BJE Buzz E-newsletter
- Maintain marketing database - mailing lists, advertising, event information.
Requirements:
Education: Undergraduate degree required. Degree in Marketing or Communications preferred.
Experience: At least 5 years in a leadership marketing position, preferably as director of marketing. Experience working in the Jewish community. A proven track record in developing and implementing marketing and advertising plans.
Required skills: Must be a self-starter, highly organized, creative, team player, and able to work well in the non-profit sector, especially in the Jewish community, and at all levels in the organization. Excellent writing, event planning, and interpersonal skills are vital. Must possess management, interpersonal, and facilitation skills. Must be skilled in Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications. Web publishing proficiency a plus.
